A damn mouse somehow got inside my car and I think built a nest somewhere under the passenger side of the dash. Briefly looking, I don't see a way to get under the dash.
What do I need to do to partially remove the passenger side of the dash? Specifically the bottom part of the dash.
Fortunately it looks I got sucker before he could chew into anything in the car. But there are some telltale signs that he was there that I would like to clean out.
I haven't tried yet, but if you remove the A/C vents, you should be able to see three bolts holding the hush panel on. Also, you may need to remove the fuse box panel, but I'm not 100% sure.
If you pry out the center part of the pass. side air vent, you can access some screws that will allow you to remove the entire vent. Behind that are some screws for the lower kick panel. I believe that there are also a few screws on the side of the dash (in the rest of the panel where the fuse cover is located).
I got it off, the little bugger had nest and poop everywhere :mad. But it doesn't look like there is any damage otherwise.
There is a foam peice attached to the bottom dash peice that I'm going to have to replace. I'm sure he pee'd all over it.
Here is how I got it off for future reference.
1.I had to pry off the center cap on the vent using a small screw driver.
2.There are 2 torx screws that are holding the vents on and need to be removed.
3.The vent comes out revealing 3 bolts. Needed to remove these 3 bolts.
4.Then I had to remove 3 torx screws on inside the fuse box.
5.Removed the fuse box cover to reveal several more torx screws.
6.Needed to removed the 2 lower torx screws to remove the lower panel.
Thanks for the help everyone. The vents was what was throwing me off.
I know the feeling when dealing with a mouse, I too had a battle on my hands a little while ago (fall). I went nuts, and did a little research. Here is what I found:
I guess that mice like "sweet smelling warm places to inhabit." So, why these damn things decided to go with my house/garage I will never know. :) I am pretty sure that I won the battle inside my house, all signs point to yes. In the garage, however, I am not sure. They (mice) hate some chemical found in all common dryer sheets. At the beginning of my battle, I immediately put a couple dryer sheets in the vette, attempting to avoid mouse problems in vehicles. I have not found any evidence showing that they live in or around my house (knocking on wood).
