Well, I'm upgradeing my alternator on the 85 from whatever the stock one was to a CS-144. My stock one would only put out 11 volts at idle and would spike over 18 volts while you drove aroud. Yep, think it did in my ecm. Anyway, i am trying to install the CS-144, but i noticed the connector is different than my old one..which is only a 2 wire connector. The new one, i can see 4 posts on the alternator, the new connector however has 3 wires: red, black and brown. labeled s,f,l,p respectively. p terminal has no wire coming from it. How the hell do i hook this up to my two wire system? I cant find my haynes or chiltons manuals around here.. :mad ...so any input will be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks all!
All you should need are the field and stator wires. I was going to do this upgrade on my '80 Camaro so fi you can find it get an aftermarket connector and just splice in the field and stator wires. E-mail me caratemymoney@aol.com and ill send you a schematic but i wont be held liable if you fry your car
well, its on and seems to be charging. guess i hooked it up right  anyway, when i bought the new alternator, i asked for one from a '96 lt4....funny thing is that in the tech tips it says that you will have to trim off 4mm of material from one of the mounting ears, i didnt have to do this. also, all of my supports bolt right up to the case...hmmmm  oh wel, its working now..i am happy! :yesnod: now i dont have to worry about smoking the '165 when i put it in! woohoo!
