Not quite true......I have a 160F thermostat and did not reporgram my fans just simply because I don't have a HPP3+......it still works fine.....in the summer in town all I need to do is turn the heater control to a setting that engages the A/C an the fans come on automatically below 40 mph and keep the car at 175-180F coolant temp forever in city traffic. On the highway or interstate, the engine and tranny now run significant cooler than before: depending on ambient temp the engine runs at 177 to 190F and the tranny at 160-200F.....before the engine always ran at 200 to 210 F and the tranny too.....so it has a
beneficial effect to run the 160F thermostat without reprogramming the fans...
Fan programming is the key, regardless of 180 or 160 tstat.
I believe its more important to have your fans reprogrammed with the LT1. You already have a 180 tstat from the factory, i think that should be perfect for CT weather.
