Just received my Accel Superram from Lingenfelter for a 1986 corvette. I do not see a cold start hole in the runners for the cold start injector. Do i need it or do i plug it up. HELP
How does the removal of the cold start injector affect engine start up, cold idle, etc?
Mine cranked a little longer, but always fired right up and idled great. It would hunt a little until it reached closed loop, but then was a smooth as could be.
If you use Tunercat to burn your own PROMs they have recently added the ability to modifiy a "Crank pulse width multiplier vs. Coolant Temp" that will enable you to add more fuel during a cold start like the '89+ cars did since they had no 9th injector. The 9th injector only operates when coolant is below 100* (F).
If your engine is tuned right and injectors are good/clean, it shoudl start up within 2 cranks.. I plugged my 9nth injector about 2 years ago, and have not have any difference with startup. In the mornings it was on the 1st crank (almost instantly) and when warm it was about 2-3 cranks.. (My injectors were bad that's why).
