I have read several threads regarding this, and the various fixes people have done, however, my 90 set this code this moring after 10-15 miles of highway driving, just like it does for many others, so I scanned and found it. BUT, a previous owner has REMOVED the EGR and replaced with a block off plate and I dont see any vacuum lines loose anywhere on the motor. Is it possible the the O2 sensor (original, I assume) could be causing this code due to faulty data from the EGR being bypassed? Kinda confused.
You might be able to fool the ecm by using a resistor ( not sure of value) to connect to the egr solenoid wires.
No. Won't work. The Code 32 Diagnostic in a 90-91 is not an "electrical" check. Code 32 opens the EGR valve and monitors BLM for a corresponding change. It closes the valve and looks for another corresponding change in BLM.
I believe that in the L98 the MAT sensor is only used to enable EGR. MAT must be >59F for EGR. Install a 7,500 ohm resistor across the MAT sensor wires. (Sensor disconnected permanently.) The ECM will think the MAT is <40F and never turn on the EGR. No Code 32. You can't just unplug the sensor or Jumper the two MAT wires or you'll set MAT codes 23 and/or 25. You need a resistor.
