Default Sensor

What sensor is on the passenger side in the head right behind the oil dipstick? My friend broke mine while we were removing my stock manifolds and I need a new one. Thanks Zach

Looking at a schematic, there is an "ENGINE TEMP. SENSOR (GAGE OVERHEAT)" in that area.

If you know how to pull trouble codes, do so. An open sensor will set a DTC, and that will pin-point the correct sensor.

Not sure about a 93, but on a 85 the sensor is the temp switch for the fan.

Cool thanks Scorp. I will also pull the codes but I have a check engine light already because of the quad driver failure from all of the removed emissions stuff

Auxilary cooling fan.
Hey scorp! There are two sensors in that location very close to each other that activate the secondary fan: coolant temp sensor - gage, and coolant temp sensor - ECM. The '93 manual shows the "gage" sensor to be to the left of the ECM sensor on the right side of the engine. If this is correct, shouldn't we be concerned what sensor was damaged?

Funny the manual shows two but I think I only have one there, I thought the coolant temp sensor was in the waterpump housing. Argh, guess I will have to wait until tomorrow and go to the dealer to get it. :banghead:
