Default MAF Question...

I posted this on the Forced Induction Section, but got no replies.
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=499134

I was wondering if anyone uses a MAF 'Pull-Through' setup with their superchargers. I don't think I have enough room on the discharge side between the TB and the Supercharger outlet for my MAF, so I might have to place it in front of the supercharger in line..

This section gets more people watching than the Forced Ind. Section. Sorry for the Dupe.. :blueangel:

Coming out of Mustangs and into Vettes has been a transition for me but I can tell you this...the recommeded method for any MAF is a pull through not a blow through. That is with any MAF as far as I know. They are more accurate and give better response in this position but will work either way. You just need to meter the air. So I hope that has helped. If there is something that is Vette specific that you other guys know about, please feel free to chime in. Again, I am a Vette convert so it would be best to get a second opinion.

Cool, thanks for the info.
At 6+- PSI I should be 'ok' without the Bypass Valve I guess.
(Since if you put the MAF on the 'pull-through' side you can't use a BypassVlave as that would screw the A/F mixture to hell and back)

You may need to use the bypass if you experience any surges at or near idle. Don't worry about the mixture at this point though, it is not important in the grand scheme and the valve will close as soon as you step on the throttle. You should notice very little change in mixture because it is such a low RPM, the plugs should last a while too. Surges are a by-product of centrifugal blowers and turbos. You won't need a blow-off valve until the boost exceeds 10 psi. Good luck.

Mr nuke,

I ran a vortech with the normal vortech snout and also later had added the ATI intercooler. As above stated, you want your maf sensor right behind your air filter. Then run your bypass return behind the MAF, otherwise you will be metering air that has already been metered andrerouted. I have run this system for over a year. You can see it on my website. I recently pulled it off the car as the emissions here in california amake it literally impossible to run one. ( another story)

I ran over 125 runs if I can be anyhelp please feel free to email me...

The other issue with putting the MAF on the pressure side is the issue of temperature compensation for the hot-wire anemometer MAF sensor....
