I just picked up this 96, been sitting for a few years.
The shifting assembly is dropped down, if lifted up it can shift into gear, but not while it is dropped. Was wondering if anyone else has had this issue or had any advice. Any help is appreciated!
You may have sorted this already. It appears that the rear locating pin on the shifter housing is out of it's retainer bushing. There's 2 rubber isolator bushings on the housing, one at the front with an Allen bolt attaching to the gearbox, and a 2nd at the rear that's held on with 2 bolts. For the shifter assembly to have come fully out of that rear bushing is pretty amazing. *The pin on the housing that rides in that rear bushing, is the one in your pic with a hose clamp around the boot.* You'll have to investigate how things got loose enough for that to pull out 😬 You can see it from underneath, but probly can't get a wrench on those rear mount bolts with exhaust in the way. Probly best to fix it before ya drive it much tho. Don't want to risk damaging the shift forks or synchros with it wobling around. Good luck with it 👍🏻
