I was fighting a code 32 for a while and found the EGR valve wasn't functioning right and replaced it. Now for a week it was fine. Took the car to connecticut and SES came on. Used gordons plugs for code checking. Car doesn't miss, hesitate, nothing......runs perfect. Cleared codes went for a ride today now the roads are clear, triggers SES coming off highway after 1 hour drive. Same two codes now in memory AGAIN!!. I don't get why they are triggering at the same exact time. I'm sure I cleared it the first time. Any input would be useful.
Code 16 Distributor ignition system low resolution pulse
Code 32 Exhaust gas recirculation circuit

I'll bet you that if you fix the code 16, the code 32 will not come back.
For the 16, You need to replace your right side air injection check valve it's the black bell shaped valve mounted on the metal tube that goes from the right exhaust manifold to the back of the intake manifold, it's restricted. Its also possible that your opti is going out.
Re: WTF......Code 16 and 32.........errrrrr (vader86)
Think its possible to rip that sucker off and clean it or lub it up? Or is replacement the only option? It only has 41k on the clock. If it was opti wouldn't I see some driveablity issues? I see none..........i.e. stumbling, missing, WOT missing, ...........none of that is present. I bet your right about the valve though.......
Re: WTF......Code 16 and 32.........errrrrr (kittmaster)
Just something to check on the opti. I've thought I've had trouble with the opti before that turned out to be just the wiring harness that goes to it. The ends were corroded up and not making good contact.
Re: WTF......Code 16 and 32.........errrrrr (Nathan Plemons)
I looked and noticed some grease and crude building up on the connector. Will take it apart and clean it up. Still going to have to figure out the EGR problem. Got to find my vacuum gauge to see what the egr sees.....kinda weird......
Re: WTF......Code 16 and 32.........errrrrr (kittmaster)
Did you install a vented cap on your opti? If so, check that the lines are clear and air flows easily. 16 was my first indication of a problem with the air supply line.
Re: WTF......Code 16 and 32.........errrrrr (John Row)
I have not installed the vent kit on this car. I'm gonna blast the connections with some shop air and around the opti area. Then I'll clean the contacts individually to ensure good mating on the connector. I hope this works
Re: WTF......Code 16 and 32.........errrrrr (kittmaster)
Update, did the above and have only seen the code one time. I only really see these codes when it 15 degrees or colder. Every 30 degree day we have and hours of driving no codes come up. So now it seems temperature related. I wonder if this has to do with the question that I asked about my cold start up noise that I'm having during a cold start condition only. Just seems screwy http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=493200
Re: WTF......Code 16 and 32.........errrrrr (kittmaster)
If you're talking about a vehicle with an Opti-Spark and you are getting a trouble code for the low-resolution pulse, that pulse must be failing intermittently or you wouldn't be running. The LT1/LT4 won't run without the low-res signal. That signal is used to fire the injectors and for the rough ignition timing.

I was having the same problem-it would come on when i clod-started the car and then go off after it warmed up-had 3 codes, replaced the opti, coolant temp sensor, and the knock module

I have no codes during startup, the only time the code shows itself is when i'm coming down from 65 MPH then the RPM's and tps are within the EGR window and then sets the code. For some reason it is also setting a code 16 at the same time

:iagree:
The car NEVER misses, stalls, hesitates, surges, or any other type of malfunction. I just don't get it. AND it doesn't set the code everytime the above as mention about the EGR window. Replaced the valve and it only seems to occur when temp go below 15F.......errrrrrrrrr
Re: WTF......Code 16 and 32.........errrrrr (John Row)
did a full fuel tank purge and injector cleaning......good idea though, I though of that too...... :yesnod: I just replaced the battery today, kept dying, wonder if I was getting some voltage spikes or sags that could have contributed to the failure. Alternator is charging 13.9 instead of 14.8.....
Was 17 today but not codes under the same conditions..........this is really pissing me off.......I hate chasing ghosts.
Re: WTF......Code 16 and 32.........errrrrr (kittmaster)
When I run into a problem like this, I set up my Vetronix Tech-1A scan-tool http://www.vetronix.com/diagnostics/tech1a/index.html to auto-trigger on any trouble-code and leave it connected. Then I have a "snapshot" of about 60 frames of data (30 frames before the problem and 30 frames after the problem). Each of these frames of data includes every parameter the scan-tool can access. With these frames of data, I can graph the parameters and see what each sensor and parameter was doing over the duration of the snapshot. This usually lets you know what the sequence was that started the problem.
