Bad TPS?
I've had my '85 about 3 weeks now and everything in the car works as it should. The seller said it had been sitting for 3 or 4 years and he replaced the battery and changed all of the fluids before putting it up for sale which seems as though it has been done. Unfortunately, it seems to have developed an intermittent "no crank" issue. It runs and drives fine (except the flat spotted tires, lol), but sometimes it won't crank after it's been shut off. Everything in the car has power, but no it won't crank, not even a click. The first time it did it, the check engine light came on leading me to believe it was a sensor. I couldn't scan it because I was at the gas station. It did then start but refused to idle, leading me to believe it was the TPS sensor. I unplugged it, plugged it back in and the car started and ran perfectly. It's done this a few more times and each time messing with the TPS gets it to start. I'm going to replace the sensor and check the corresponding connector, but I didn't think the TPS would not allow the car to crank. Could this in fact have been the problem or is there something else I should be looking for when I swap out the sensor? Thank for your time!
