I recently bought a 1992 corvette (automatic trans) that shows 0 mph most of the time while driving but will sometimes show random numbers that jump around. I believe I need a new VSS for the car but since I have an automatic I have been struggling to find a replacement anywhere. Any suggestions?

Before that question gets answered, I have a question for you. Once you get that answer, are you going to disappear into the word work like most first time posters or will you at least return with a thank you to someone who took their time to answer your question?
You should first check the wires at the VSS and the connector. There will be a part number on the VSS also if you look. Note also the color of the VSS. You might also maybe have a drive gear retainer that's busted and drive/driven are seldom meshing.
Rear axle ratio will determine your needs. That can be found using the SPID label on the console door. Also, the VSS ID on the SPID label will do the same. Post a snapshot of the SPID label on your console door after confirming the VIN matches the windshield or door certification label.
If you find G92 & G44 you should also find D8L. The VSS ID will be either the D8L, OR maybe D7B, or D7C. Correct VSS for 4L60 '92 & '93 are difficult finds.
