I did mine Saturday and used a pump I fashioned using a much less costly plastic pump that Auto Zone also sells - but for about $3.99. It's a plastic unit that comes with a hose on the output end.
It's designed to allow you to pump fluid into a read end, or transmission. To use it to suction the differential, I just put the hose on the bottom (suction) end and pumped away. Worked like charm.
BTW, if you haven't changed your gearbox oil, do it while you're under there. You won't believe the difference in smooth shifting (especially getting it into reverse in the morning to back out of the garage. (Oh, and don't forget to get some of the GM anti slip fluid for the rear end and to put it in before adding the gear oil) Cire96
I put VP Racing'ings GL100 Racing gear lube in my rear end. No limited slip additive needed. Works great.
I just received my box from VP Racing today, that's what's goin' in mine this weekend, hopefully it will cure the clunk my rearend makes when I put it in reverse...

:iagree: I went over to the local Valvoline quick lube and had them suck out all of the old lube out of my '85 and put the GL100 in. Took about 10 minutes for 19.95. Well worth it! :yesnod:
