ive used an edlebrock geardrive on my pontiac 469 steet motor and had no problems,i just took it off cause its annoying for some time. anybody ever use one on there vette to gain on the throttle accurate timing for better performance,it works but is killer on valvetrain. annoying for some but i wouldn't mind doing it. :skep:
I haven't tried one personally but a lot of articles I have read reccomend AGAINST using one on the TPI Vettes.
The reason given is the gear drive "may" create noise that the ECM/Knock Sensor interpret as spark knock. This result in retarded timing and less performance.
I know they make a 'quite' and a 'noisy' version.
They do LOOK good and I've been tempted to try one of the quite ones myself.
I don't want to spend a hundred bux just to 'try' one however.
Anyone running one on their L98 without problems or incident????
Just run a belt drive...They're quiet and very accurate! And trick... :D
Of course it's kinda hard to talk the guy you wanna race up more money after you've told him it's "just a ZZ4 crate motor with a little shot of nitrous." For some reason they don't believe that after they see the Jesel belt drive poking it's snout out from behind the water pump...
