Is the car missing? I know this probably sounds stupid but have you checked your spark plugs? My Blazer had a bad plug and it would run fine until it got warmed up then it did exactly what you describe. You step on it dies, you go light it's ok but with rough idle and some vibration. It's just a thought before you go pulling all your rocker arms out and replacing them.

A lot of times it really is something simple and people over think it. I know many times when I look at a problem I go into many senarios only to find out it was something that an average person would pick out right away, but I was thinking too far past it to realize it was something simple.

Removing the knock sensor helped a great deal. I took it around the block, shift points appeared to return to normal, and timing is now stable. So at least I feel like I am heading back the right direction.
Did the car have a chance to warm up when you did this? Just around the block may not be enough to make it happen. My Blazer ran fine when it was cold, only when I let it warm up would the plug problem show up and then there was basically nothing. I'm just wondering when you step on it does it seem to skip or just not have power? When you said rev limiter kinda thing it made me believe it was skipping.

Don't foreget to use a little light assembly lube on the cam lobes (or lifter bottoms) as well as on the pushrod tips and rocker trunions.

Set the installed height to get a little higher seat pressure than stock. This info is available from the seat pressure and spring rate data for the springs. You may need a shim set (CC has a variety pack available for a few $$) to get seat pressures right.

Since you are trying to get a higher rev limit install Ti retainers with 10deg locks, available from CC.

BTW you can get next day delivery direct from CC, they have very good service.
