Going to get the NGK tr55 plugs for my 86 Vette tomorrow. After reading the posts I heard these were decent plugs. Hope they are the right ones. Quick nay or yea would be good.
Some of us have had trouble with the platinum tips/pucks coming off of the AC platinum tipped plugs...common problem with the AC design. I believe the pucks are thermal fused to the center electrode. While made in Japan NGK's happen to be some of the best quality plugs around, right next to Denso's...
Good luck finding the NGK TR55IX, I spent an hour after work today, my O'Reilly's can't even order them, no ordering option? Went to Advance Auto who has a PN but can't get them either...Called Autozone, they don't even want to talk about NGK. Didn't think I'd be forced to order spark plugs via an internet site..
I bought TR55IX NGK plugs from Thunderracing.com at $6.99 each. O'Reilly is not around here, their price is $5.89 each. I hope they don't foul on me. I'm upgrading my coil while I'm at it. (We need a smilie face throwing $$$$)
Hope you guys know your stuff.

I tried a new MSD Blaster GM coil back when i still had the stock AC platinum plugs installed and it didn't make any noticeable difference at all.
I refunded it and put the stock coil back on.
The iridium plugs require less voltage to fire than either conventional or platinum plugs (according to Denso and NGK), so I don't see a reason to put in a hotter coil.
I also wondered how the stock wires and the optispark would tolerate a hotter coil over the long term, since my opti and wires are recent (@ 6000 miles ago).
All of the above considered, one reason GM changed to a different coil for '96 LT1/4 was to get a little better voltage output above ~5500rpm, so maybe 92 - 95 cars might benefit from a little better output at the high end...
