Amazing what a little dawn will do to some 60k mile old shocks before they get sent off to be rebuilt.

Clean shocks on the outside, with dirty ones on the inside.

DANG! I guess now I know what I'll be doing when I get my vette back from the paint shop. Pulling off the shocks and all that stuff, and getting the knuckle and stuff powder coated, then cleaning the shocks. (Maybe I'll get THOSE powdercoated too!! :D)

Please set up a cam corder for the powdercoat process on the shocks.

Brian, only the paint is chipped off. The rubber is still soft and doesn't have any cracks. However with that said. I'm having them price urathane bushings when they rebuild. :D

Replace ALL of the shock bushings, not just the eyes. Unless they have been replaced, which I doubt, the top bushings are all hammered out as well. Be very careful removing the "cowns" on the tops of the shocks. If you bend them in any way such that they are out of round, you will either have to get new ones, of spend a lot of painstaking time getting them concentric again.
You will love the re-valve on the FX3 shocks. The boys in Calif did a great job coming up with a valving that allows for a wide range of adjustability.

I have a leaker that does not seem to be affecting performance yet....What do you guys recommend about rebuilding? What is the cost, who do you recommend? I see reference to CA, as I am there, any reference would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I just sent back the rear ones to get rebuilt. They leaked bad at the top of the pistons. I sent them back as is so the FX-3 people can see how bad they really are. I have a extra new set to replace these while they are getting repaired.
About 70,000 miles on the old ones. I have replaced them all already once. Nothing like the life time warrenty. :)
