OK. How do you replace the outboard ones? The passenger side, specifically.
I've done the inboard ones, not too bad going through the liscense plate area and the gas boot. But I can't quite fit my arm to the outside one, no matter how I try.
Thanks for any help!
I assume you are talking about the bulb plus housing and that your model is similar to my 95? For bulb only, the red lens can be removed via a couple of screws from the outside. If you are replacing the housing as well, you need to remove the inboard lights first and access the outboard light via the hole in the bumper where the inboard light was.
The way I do it on my 85 is remove the inboard tail light and use this access hole and then remove the outboard bulb from the housing for change out. Haven't had to do this but only one time in 11 years.
I just changed this bulb on my '87. You can easily reach the bulb holder with your left hand(lying on your back with your head towards the rearend) The problem I found was after the socket was removed, there was not enough wire to lower it far enough to use two hands to change bulb in socket. I had to feel around for the wire support clip and break it(I know but by this time I was totally chocked.) Socket then comes down far enough to twist out the bulb.
