Re: Camber brace installed! Pics and a question inside (Yello95)
the two sided belt was on 92 and early 93 cars. it could be used on newer models but you would have to use the older power steering and tensioner pulley i believe. ALL LT1 and LT4 braces are the same. The picture posted above is the brace for the mezziere pump. it is 3 pieces because as you can see the middle is slightly lower giving clearance to the mezziere (and any others?) electric waterpump that bolts onto the waterpump housing.
I would suggest anyone getting one to get the brace for the mezziere. If your waterpump goes, get an electric one and then you wont have to worry about fitment issues with the old brace. You'll have a better pump (cheaper, more reliable and cooler), and a stiff front end.
Oh and this mod makes your steering wheel feel lighter. it stiffens the front end up so much it feels like youre driving a different car. For those who think this is a racing mod, you're wrong. For daily driving as well you wont believe the difference this mod makes. Even with the roof off the car will shudder less and the steering wheel will vibrate less.

Oh.. when i installed my brace theres enough room to still get a wrench in there no problem. Heres what i did. You'll notice the bolt holes in the brace are elongated. just pull the brace a little forward enough to reach the tensioner pulley with a wrench and then tighten the brace bolts/control arm bolts. i found i could move the brace forward/backwards about an inch or so.
Oh and nathan i was curious about the install with the 3 peices. I sold my previous brace and the new mezz brace is on the way. Just curious on the install steps.. any pointers?

thanks...but back to my original question about the 2 sided belt..."can it be used on my '95"... since it is supposed to be more quiet?.... :D

The camber brace is a definite improvement on any C4. We all owe Dave Cooper for his engineering prowess and willingness to share and help us :) I have one in both of my C4s.
The Z51 package doesn't include anything to stiffen the frame, particularly side-to-side in the front. It does use some heavier suspension components.

It's actually very straightforward. I removed the belt so I could get the driver's side bolt out and then back in. Before I tightened everything down in my way though I put the belt back. A long 18 mm wrench can help but if you've already had the normal brace you should be familiar with that part of it. I just bolt in either side loosely and then started the bolts in the middle piece. Then I tightened everything down as per the instructions.

I have the tensioner tool from Ecklers. It is thin enough that it fits down behind the brace and right on to the tensioner bolt. Plus it provides enough leverage to actually remove the belt without prying. Costs a few bucks but well worth it when you need to remove the belt. :)
