Hwy mode spark and fuel is in the tdf from GM-however the factory left it disabled by setting those parameters. As to why? Anybody????
I have enabled mine by decreasing the limits to where I wanted it to engage-and it did help a bit with mileage.
Note all the other parameters to enable it-map rpm etc. and also f/a vs map-just have to decide based on where you "hit cruise" conditions.
you can find some info on the "highway mode fuel & spark" on the Thirdgen site, just do a search in the "DIY prom section".
if you decide to turn it on be cautious (don't want to lean it out too much).
from one post I read on the thirdgen site they recommended not going over 15.2 to 1 on the air fuel ratio to stay safe.

If the GM Powertrain was afraid to fool with it.... maybe I better leave it alone also.:nonod:
GM spent a lot of time and effort (also known as money) to develop highway fuel and spark mode. It was the EPA that forced them to disable it. It is a way to cheat the fuel mileage numbers to make them better, but while running lean, combustion temps go up and so do NoX emissions and the feds said :nono:
