Can the side fender be removed giving access to the battery with the hood in the closed position? My car is dead in the garage and I don't have the clearance to open the hood the way the car is positioned. If I can remove the fender with the hood closed, is there enough room to reach the battery terminals? Thanks for any help.
One of the screws required to remove the side cover is only accessible with the hood raised.

I kinda thought that was the case but I couldn't remember. I guess I'll just have to get the wife to give me a shove into the driveway :D Thanks for the help.
Buy an adaptor that plugs into the lighter ($2.00) and connect a charger to the wires from the adaptor using the correct polarity (+ to +, - to -). No need to remove anything.
On my '94, the bolt necessary to get the side fender off is under the hood BUT very close to where the clamshell opens. If you can open and prop it a little bit, you may be able to get at that bolt.
There is no need to remove anything, or push the car anywhere. The battery can easily be charged through the lighter port by using a lighter adaptor connected to a charger.
Hey OLDMAN, from what i've heard it takes FOREVER to charge your battery thru the cigarette lighter. Have you done it yourself??? Your going to have try hard to convince me that electrical power going thru the cigarette lighter thru the little wirer that its connected to thru god knows what else then to that HUGE battery cable won't take FOREVER?? It only takes 1min and 2 people to push the vette outside. :nono:
Hey swoosh!....don't misunderstand me. I'm not against pushing vettes around. It just doesn't show much class. Charging through the lighter port does take longer, but not a whole lot longer. The 12V portable power packs can provide enough "juice" to a "dead" batt. in about 20 minutes for an engine start using the lighter circuit. Connecting a 6 amp charger to a lighter adaptor over 24 hours will fully charge a low batt. My two-car garage accomodates my vette nicely, but my Cadillac is so darn long that there isn't any room in front for me to pop the hood for access to the batt. So this is where the adaptor comes in. The Cad isn't driven much, so I need batt. maintenance on a regular basis. Most adaptors come prewired with a socket end, but you can buy just the adaptor, and add a pos. and neg. wire
and connectors for the charger clips. Try it, and you will never be without juice again.......
