Any differences between dana 44 gears/rear ends between years?

Any differences between dana 44 gears/rear ends between years?
Would a gear set or ring and pinion from say, a mid late 80s C4 work in a later C4 as long as the 2 are both dana 44 (obviously)

i believe they are the same throughout. Noone ever has mentioned any differences that i can remember. Only the trannys were changed (different torque ratings) but the diffs remained the same.
