88 Auto trannie question
I'm posting on behave of a buddie.
He's added a SC, ATI I think, to his 88. Now he's having problems hooking up, wonder why?.
Anyway he's afraid to go to a stickeyer tire like a drag radial because he might break the trans. I suggested the DR and run it at near street pressure.
Is the C4 auto at a greater risk of being dammage by additional HP and traction then any other auto in a similar situation?
Thanks guys,

The stock A4 will suffer behind a realy high HP engine but the Dana 36 is at risk in that case with very sticky tires.
If he's running in the 11s it might be worth while to install a Dana 44 diff and have the A4 rebuilt with competition parts.

Re: 88 Auto trannie question (65Z01)
Hes more at risk of blowing his differential than blowing his tranny.
With that much power, youd need the right stall TC, and a rebuilt transmission with heavy duty parts to handle the torque.
He should install a tranny cooler as well, if he wants any mileage out of it.

All responders, thanks for taking time to talk to a C5'er. I'll pass the info along to my buddy.
