I have a set of valve covers that are aftermarket polished aluminum. Problem is they have two holes in the passenger side cover. One is for the oil filler. What could the other hole be for? These are supposed to be for the LT-1. Could they be for the Camaro or Impala LT-1, but not the Corvette?
I also have a 92 LT1 and with any aftermarket valve cover you have to be painfully aware of the clearance between the rear of the alternator and the front of the driver side valve cover. "Read That As ~ you have to grind the lower corner of the alternator housing for clearance".
The valve covers are clearanced for the alternator. Did you grind a place in your passenger side fuel rail cover for the PCV tube or did the '92 come this way?
If you look at Purps middle pic that is where you PVC valve should be on your new covers. You will have to run a piece of tubing like he did up to the original piece(or replace the whole thing). Do you have 2 holes of the same size ie. 2 PVC holes or a PVC hole and a filler hole? Not too sure what you mean by plugging the other hole.
The slot in the fuel rail cover is thoughtfully provided by the General. I just went to Checker Auto and bough the plugs in the crome accessories section. I took the oil plug to a trophy shop and had "Synthetic Oil Only" engraved on the top. I took the other plug (extra fill port) and had "It's a Purple Thing" engraved. The last slot is where the original PCV would have gone. I just bought some aftermarket grommets to help with the fit.
I still have to get my Bowties painted purple. The local pinstriper hasn't gotten back to me since I installed the valve covers. ~ :bb

Re: Replacement LT-1 valve covers (PurpleC4)
Stan, you are so crazy. I really like the way it turned out. Miss you around here!
[ot] BTW, my special cyro rotors are starting to micro-crack. Don't know if it was worth the $20 to get it done. Maybe, maybe not. Doubt I'll do it again. Think maybe a 10 to 20% improvement, but it cost more then that!!!!!!
Mine has a new bracket on it that the guys put on when I added the chrome valve covers like yours. No grinding needed. Again thanks for the oil fill caps. Work great.
Sorry no pic's. My girlfriend has both dig cams at work.

Hi Guys,
Actually I am not talented enough to do the painting myself. I had a local guy here in Phoenix do the fuel Rails and the ASR Cover. He goes by "Andy's Pinstriping". Like I said, I need to get him to do the Bowties on the valve covers now. He charged me $20 to do everything so far.
Danah,
I am glad the chrome plugs worked for you. I was not aware that you could use a different bracket and get the alternator clearance that is needed. The Bilstein's worked out great on the PurpleC4. I love them, and I like the way it has put a different rake on the car. Handling is great.
To All,
I am back from my work sabatical and ready to return to my previous Forum life. Heck, I don't hardly recognize anyone anymore ~ 'cept for those old timers that I use to swap lies with a year or so back.
