I've been getting a code for low freon from the ECC. I had a friend check it out and he said I dont have low freon. Also he noticed the air compressor wasnt working. When the exposed wire in the picture gets grounded the air compressor works, a fan turns on, and I can get cool air. He believes that the sensor is the problem. I just wanted to know what your guys think is the problem?
:smash:
Those wires were already cut:crazy:

Check the low freon sensor. When you ground them the air works. It might be bad. That one wire looks like an open wire with the insulator off, were they taped up? If it was it could have shorted the sensor when it was bare.

That's the AC low-side pressure switch, it closes to complete the circuit to allow the compressor to run when the low-side pressure is above 45 psi. It opens at about 30 psi to keep the evaporator from freezing which would allow frost to form and block the air flowing through it.
Is it fine to take it out because when I was unscrewing it freon was spraying out?
Most low-side switches have a schrader (similar to the ones in your tires under the valve cap) valve under them. When you remove the switch completely, the schrader valve should seal and stop the flow of freon. The trick is to remove the switch fast so the schrader valve seals. Then, if you need a new one, just screw it in quickly.
