I have trans fluid coimng out the weep hole in the torque convert. cover. When I pull the cover off and run the engine it looks to be flung off convert. It is pumping fluid out almost as fast as I can put it in. Would the front seal leak that bad or could it be convert went south any ideas :banghead:

 

sounds like front seal. I don't how a bad TC could cause the leak you discribed.

 

I have an '85. Mine was leaking from the front seal, the speedo "plug in" and the rear seal. I took it to a transmission shop and asked them to take a look and see if they could fix the leaks and also determine whether it needed to be rebuilt. It wasn't showing any symptoms that it needed to be rebuilt, but half of the cost is the labor of pulling the transmission out, because you also have to drop the exhaust system from the "joints " at the manifolds back, to remove the transmission. This transmission mechanic was really cool and didn't try to rip me off with the old "Well this is a Corvette transmission and it takes special skills". He invited me to stick around while he dropped the pan to see what kind of residue was in the pan, indicating such things as wear on the bands and clutches. When he dropped the pan, he said that the fluid was a little old looking but that it didn't appear that there was any evidence that it needed to be rebuilt. He found that the rear tail shaft and bearing were a little too worn and suggested that I have him replace those parts. All seals replaced and tail shaft and rear bearing replaced came to $460.00 as oposed to $1200.00 for a rebuild. He even adjusted the shift sequence to give me a more positive shift. I had another shop quote me $750.00 just to replace the seals and $1600.00 for a rebuild. My point is, shop around before you pay someone to fix your trannie. Don't fall for that Corvette transmission sales tactic.
