Recently my AC or heat wont switch from Bi-level setting to any other. When I turn on a diffrent setting, nothing comes from the vents but air comes out of the bottom of the dash. The de-frsoter still will blow air. Any ideas?
I think all that stuff is vacuum actuated. If you have a leak the flappers won't work. Just a quick guess. I seem to remember having a similar problem when I was goofing around under the hood. I cracked a little T connector. :banghead:
Just relaced a vacuum valve, and corrected my problem.
Does your cruise control work? On my car this vacuum leak prevented the vents and CC from working.
This valve has three connections. It is located at the back of the Plenum near the fuel pressure regulator and the distributor. Mine just cooked away. I bought a new one at the wrecking yard for $2.
For CC there is a Servo located just above the battery. There is a vaccum line that runs to a real "T" on the inside of the left front fender. Follow the tube to the right up to the plenum and you'll find the vaccum switch. On the swith to the left is the vacuum from the Plenum. The other connection goes into the car and controls Cruise Control and Air Vents. If the switch looke OK, check all of the tubes for holes or cracks. Some folks have had the line off the servo deteriorate from Battery Acid.
