Has anyone replaced the adjustable suspension shocks on a 96 with anything other than those made for it even though you would no longer have the adjustment?
Yah.. I've got the F45 but replaced the originals with the same year Z51 Bilstein's. I've been quite happy with the replacement.
I'm sure I'll purchase a new set of F45 shocks (just to maintain originality) but they'll stay in a box. The Z51's do a fine job of providing a good ride and decent handling.

Re: 96 shock question (grnvette)
Yep, cheapy Gabriels on the car now until I get replacement F45 shocks... It'll take a standard 96 non-F45 shock... The only difference is the electrical connector, the physical mounting is the same...
I just bagged and tied the ends of the connectors, and pulled the fuse for the F45 system... The fuse is an inline type in the ABS compartment behind the driver's side... It's easier than pulling the bulb out of the DIC...
