This maybe the bang for the buck.. So, I may use this on a stock L98 and gain 50 ponies..Thats 290 ponies and with some extra ponies from extra bolt ons I should be able to hit ZR1 status..IN a convert..
I remember I ordered a catalog around when it first came out, and their order system screwed up and they shipped and charged me for a Vortec TPI intake also .. that was fun to straighten out :banghead:
I'd love to jump to Vortec heads but the idea of $400 for a lower intake really really turns me off.. werent Chevys supposed to be cheap?? :D
Does the engine still look stock after the new base is installed ?
Thks,
Robin
Of course. You can barely see the base on the TPI cars anyway. The only difference is that the ports that mate to the heads are a somewhat different shape, and the mounting bolts are in different spots.
Yeah, but 400 seems like alot after seeing complete intakes for my mustang for 500, and 200 for carbed ones
Either way it's probably one of the better deals, it just seems like a ton of money for an intake. I realize that the market for these intakes is NOT anywhere near as wide as they are for the other intakes. I'm sure you'd need different runners and a hogged out plenum to make that 50 more horsepower, but either way i'll probably go with the Vortec setup and some d-shaped pistons if i ever take my motor apart.
oh yeah, when I had the intake i looked at it pretty closely, it looks alot like a TPI base but the vortec heads have 4 intake bolts per side rather than 6.. and they're almost facing straight up, and they use reusable intake gaskets
