I have rough idle , after a short drive. It will surge up to 1800 rpm and down to smooth again. I hear the diaphram on the back top of the moter making a suck or whoop sound even over the idle noise of the motor. Is that right or should I check alot of stuff? I have no light's on the dash info on. Thanks for any Help.
I would start by cleaning the throttle body (if it hasn't been done recently) and go from there. Plugs, wires, TPS and IAC would be next on the list of things to check.

Are you hearing the "sound " around the EGR valve? Kind of sounds like a vacuum leak...especially with the idle jumping up.
I'd check the AIR pipe that runs from the pass side exhaust to the back of the intake manifold. There is a gasket that sometimes can leak. It's a real pain to replace :yesnod: If it is leaking make sure you have some 1/4"drive gooseneck extentions (10mm socket) to remove and replace.
If that is okay, I'd go for the vacuum leak check.

Re: HELP! LT-1 94 (VET-4-US FL)
mine started out this way, but I would get a code here and there. Then it started happening all the time, and at start up. I replaced the TPS and have had absolutely no problems since. I dont recall hearing any sucking sounds though. This was on my 93.
