Thanks guys....I kind of got a bit down today as I still could not fix it...I have been at this for 5 days now, and am down in the dumps and sick about it... I will do the next steps you said early in the morning and hit the parts house again for a pressure guage... I thought of the tank being empty, but put 5 gallons in just to be sure yesterday....Today I also pulled the fuel pump out to look at it and put a new stainer on it rule it out to...I want to go back out there now and hack at it, but I think the wife would kill me....I think I read the repair manual cover to cover to try and figure things out...But did not see anything... I think it is really starving for fuel somehow.... Is there anyway to bypass the regulater to check it? I wished I would have purchased a new pump while I had the pump out today.... I hope I can get this tomorrow and not have to take it to the dealer.....
key word BODY SHOP i got my car repainted went to pick it up .it wouldnt hardly run went straight to my shop called the guy at the body shop and he said the only thing he could have possibly done was flooded it from turning the key of and on while working on it and not running it ,while working on the car ,he would turn on the ignition put it in nuetral and roll it around without cranking it ,and possibly it flooded it ....what the heck i changed the FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR and it fixed it .thats my 2 cents worth. and i would of never believed it .good luck . :seeya :chevy
Update for the day.... I went and picked up a new fuel pump just in case and a fuel peressure tester... I did the test and I have arounf 42 PSI at the shrader valve... I checked all the fues with a test light with the key in the on position and all were fine except the Brake and ECM and FP, but they don't light up until the car is in the start position... anyways I changed them anyway to rule it out....
I talked to a fellow corvette owner and mechanic fried of mine and he thinks I may have a bad computer...I replaced it in 12/2001. and it has I think a LTD Lifetime Warrany on it... I think I will take the fuel pump back and get a new ECM and see if that does the trick... I don't think I am getting any injector pulse...at all...My buddy says thats what it sounds like to him.... I thought I did the test light thing to see that yesterday, but I did it with a test light and just saw the light come on when the key was turned to the on position...I don't think that was the correct way...
What would you guys think about the ECM being bad?
Thanks for all the help again....I am giving up on this thing....
When the crankshaft is turning, the ECM pulses each injector coil at the right time which sprays fuel into the intake runners. When you put a low power light bulb across an injector plug it should pulse when the crankshaft is rotated. No crankshaft rotation, no pulsing. It could be the ECM not pulsing the injectors which will not allow the engine to start since it isn't getting any fuel, and you can prove this by putting a low power 12v light across an injector plug and cranking the engine.
Update now.... It turned out to be the ECM...I went a got a new one and put it in a she fired right up...But holy crap it was so rich it was burning my eyes and surging and then it would smooth out but then it would surge again and blowing black smoke out the tail pipes.... Is this just the fact that it was loaded up for all these days trying to get it to start? and what do I have to do in order for the ECM to learn all over again.... Do I drive it easy and get on it a little bit and then park it for a while and do it all over again and do this cycle for a number of times.... I did not drive the car today so ....I will see tonight when I take it for a spin to the gas pump for that nice price of fuel now at $2.00 a gallon..... that is starting to hurt.....
Your ecm should relearn on its own overshort a time. It makes no differnce how you drive it. You may need to change your spark plugs, they may be burt up. sounds like you been driving it lean because of the ecm.
I will go ahead and change the plugs...I have the AC Delco Rapid Fires now....Should I go back to the same things or something different.... Should I go ahead and change the O2 Sensor now again...I changed it last year, but it could be contamenated now like you said.....
That is exactly what I did. Talk about feeling real stupid. Runs now but found a problem with the SLP runners I installed. The hole for the cold start injector is larger than stock and now I have a vacuum leak. The Chevy mechanic tried to find a larger o-ring but no good. I hope SLP can provide a part to compensate for the larger hole. If not, the mechanic suggested finding a plate to plug the hole and remove the injector. Any idea where I could get such a plate to cover the cold start injector hole? I would prefer to keep the injector but if I have to I will remove it. Thought about using some gasket maker to fill around the o-ring. Not a very professional solution that may cause me problems later on. Want to thank all the forum members that provided suggestions to the poor guy with the car won't start posting. I got a lot of good ideas on diagnosing problems from reading the responses.
