i just purchased a 94 coupe and understand that it came stock with 300hp. i was just wondering what the top end was on that same stocker? yeah this is my first vette and im definently hooked.
If the car is running healthy and if the weather is good w/ no wind. You should hit 170 if you have a long enough straight. Motor trend did it in their copper 94 in the bang for the buck shootout.
If it's an automatic-158-160 depending on gear ratio and about 165-170
if it is a 6 speed. And every car will run a little different from the factory.

I thought the top speed on an 89 was around 155. I hit 138 going to Myrtle Beech over spring break. I was trying to hit 150+ but ran out of room due to traffic. I also had the top off and about 300 lbs of passenger and luggage, so I'm sure I would have gotten in the 140s. After going that fast, I'm not sure that I want to go 155 in a car with over 100k on it!
I did this on the Autobahn (really :leaving: ). A ricer flew by me at probably 120 one Friday night on a 4-lane section of the AB (again, honest :skep: ), so I decided to see if I could catch him and see what he really had. In my bone stock '94 automatic LT1, I hit 155, according to the speedo, trying to catch him. Assuming the speedo was reading accurately, I felt like I could have hit 165 if I'd tried. Maybe radar would have read only 150, but I know for a fact that at 55 mph, my car was dead even with a roadside radar-based speed reading the MP's put out so nicely for us where I work.
Again, I only FELT like I had another 10 mph. This was in the middle of winter and it was pretty cool out, so I'm sure on a hot, humid midsummer day, I wouldn't be able to quite hit that speed.
Corvettes better go faster than 155 - 160 mph... or I will be pissed :smash:
I've gotten my moms 96 Nissan Maxima up to 145 miles per hour on the highway and that car has 190 hp. I've gotten my vette up to 135 on a backroad and it felt very unstable so I let off. But I guarentee in a new maxima I can hit 170. In my friends s8 we were going 140 with the windows down and music blasting... and that car has serior mph left.

I was at the tail end of a pace car lap up at Rd Atl a few years ago...I hung back on the back straight and nailed it...how about 152 before I had to get out of it!!! No kidding.

My car hit 267km /160mph with the previous owner of my car watching the speedo..
I don't think i would do this again. the car started behaving unpredictable after 150 really dangerous unless your on a track by yourself.
I dont' know how exact my speedo is but one word of advice,
I did this right after i installed my BFGs very sticky tire. dont' try this with old dry tires and have someone else look at the speedo for u... especially if you want concentrate on the road.
