Default Help: Why's my timming chain do this

Can't figure why chain cut into the block. Has anyone else seen this before? This is a L98 roller block & roller cam. I took it apart to install a new cam and found this when I pulled the gear off.

Thanks

KM

Was the cam sprocket bolted on evenly?

Yup, sure was. Is there supposed to be a spacer/shim/bearing there somewhere?

I have seen directions to look out for this situation. It all depends on the block casting. I ground mine down on my 406 to avoid this. Common to do.

The double rollers are wider than OEM stuff normally.

In other words...clearance it some more (dremel, etc) and no harm...except for the metal that already went thru your pump, but into your filter...:)

Sprocket on the right way? Not sure if that would matter or not, maybe is its offset. What is all that red stuff? Blood? :D

Yeah, the sprocket is on the right way. I guess I'll put the grinder to it in the morning. The red stuff is redline assy lube. I actually noticed this after I had installed the new cam and was ready to button things up. Then as I was admiring my work I noticed   something was wrong wrong wrong.
