Default Where do I put jackstands on a C4?

I know this may seem a weird question, but I'm new at working on my Vette myself. I want to change my trans filter/fluid and am unsure where the "safe" spots are to position the jackstands on my '96. Thanks for any help you can give me. :blueangel:

theres TWO indented rectangle areas one on each side of the forward cross member just inward from the lower (A) arm piviot points that are used as contact points for JACK STANDS
drive the car up on ramps, use a 10" square section of 2x6 on the floor jack lift pad to lift the corvette just high enought to set the jack stands on these points then allow the car down on the stands allowing the tires to remain with a slight load on the ramps as additional support, (DONT FORGET TO WEDGE THE REAR TIRES SO THE VETTE CAN,T ROLL IN EITHER DIRECTION,PLUS SET THE PARKING BRAKE) btw a pair of 6 foot sections of 4x4, one in front of and a second behind the rear tires works if you don,t own wheel chocks, drill a 1/2" hole through the 36" center of each and insert a long carraige bolt (forms the center bar on a capital letter (H) )with washers and a nut , this can be used to lock them in the correct location so they tend to stay in place

I usually jack at the indicated positions under the doors and then place the stands inboard and towards the end of the car from there.

In the front, the frame rails turn in towards the middle of the car. I place the stands next to the catalytic converters on the lip/seam of the frame that the marked jacking points are on.

In the rear I put the stands somewhere on the mass of similar lips/edges that are just in front of and inboard from the rear wheel well, just before the frame turns up.

Hope this helps.

:iagree:
Great place to put the stands, makes for a solid foundation.
