Default Auto Trans gasket question

As some of you know by now, I will be attempting to change the trans filter/fluid in my '96 for the first time by myself (not bad for a girl, huh? :chevy ) I know a lot of other gaskets require some type of sealant, but nothing mentions any sealant for the trans pan gasket - so does the trans pan gasket need sealant? Just trying to make sure  Thanks for your help :)

No sealant required. The only caution is to be sure you correctly torque the bolts down. Don't over tighten or it will give you a guarenteed leak. BTW, when you tighten them down, skip every other one as you go around the pan Keep going around till ALL are at the right spec. You can use some "gasket sinch" on the gasket to hold it in place until you get the bolts started. Hope that isn't to confusing.

Whether it needs it or not, I'm a big fan of a very thin layer of Permatex Ultra Black on nearly every gasket (not heads or exhaust of course).

As long as the surfaces are very clean (use non-ozone friendly brake cleaner.. its excellent)... the sealant allows very easy removal of the gasket in the future. This means no scraping or cleaning of old gaskets. You only need to do a little finger rubbing to remove any left over Ultra Black.

Use the Duraprene pan gasket, not the cork & rubber, it is brown or black in color. Make sure that the surfaces are clean and torque it to 65-75 inch pounds and do not use any type of sealer, as it is not necessary and might create problems.
