Default Question about shocks..........

I have recently realized that my original bilstein shocks are at the end of their rope, and need to be replaced. I have heard from some here on the forum that they sent theirs off to be revalved instead of purchasing new ones. Well my friend decided he would buy new ones so I was toying with the idea of keeping them and having them revalved if it is worth it. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this. The things i wanted to know were:
Cost?
If it includes new mounting hardware and bushings?
If they clean and repaint your old shocks?
Turnaround Time?
Warranty on Rebuilt Shocks?

Thanks In Advance

unless you have some expensive aftermarket brand of shock or are restoring a vette and want to keep it original, i would just buy new shocks

The posts you are referring to are for the Bilsteins. They are located here in San Diego. I have my old set laying in the shed until I send them there for a rebuild for what, I haven't decided. I put on Koni's. I have heard you can get them redone for $60 each. It is best if you contact them directly. Just look up Bilstein on the web and send them an email.

First off, if your buddie's shocks are for the same "generation" C4 suspension as yours, (eg. after '87, or prior to '88) then get them and call Bilstein in Calif. Tell them what you're doing with the car, spring rates etc. and get them custom valved. You will have a new set of shocks for ~$200. They will install new poly bushings if you send them with your shocks. BTW, you DO want to get all new bushings on them F&R. (both the eye bushings and the isolator bushings.) You won't believe how trashed they are.
