The switches for the headlights don't "light up" when I turn on the lights like the rest of the dash. Do I have a blown dash bulb? If so, does anyone have the part number and description of how to get at it?
Thanks
This isn't much help, but I can email you the instructions to remove the light switch. Unfortunately, the instructions do not mention how the panel is illuminated, or the source of the illumination. I'm interested in the solution, as none of my three manuals provide a clue.
i am pretty sure it does not light up..........all of my gm cars are not lit up either..........95 tahoe and a 96 grand prix are all dark on the switch......kinda weird huh :skep: :skep:
Open the driver door and remove the hard plastic panel that is next to the dash. I think that it is held in place with 3 torx screws.
Once the panel is removed, you can access the back of the switch. The Lights are actually behind a little round plastic holder, a little lerger in diameter than a pencil eraser. The plastic piece has a straight screwdriver slot (recessed) in the back.
If you contact Jeff Kopp he can supply the lamps.

It has been a long time ~ but to my memory, there is more than one. You should just remember that every button lights up.... even the ASR button.

Oldman,
Yeah ~ :iagree: that is rare, however.... when I bought my 92 Coupe (used) they were all blown on mine. I have since learned that the circuit which controls that side of the instrument cluster also controls the driver door lights. A good check would be to see if the night lights work on the driver door when the headlights are on.

Purp...all my lights work. I just think that when you activate the headlight switch, and all the panel lights go on except those surrounding the switch, there must be a common connection to have those lamps fail at one time. Maybe 92TripleBlack will provide some feedback after he sorts out his problem. Thanks!
Oldman,
Very good point. I think we have provided enough information to make the proper assessment. Thanks for the clarification on the issue. Often, we focus on the specific question and not all the surrounding circumstances.
