Anybody have the measurements of where to install the 02 bung in a Hooker 2149 collector so that there's no clearance issues on an 89 L98?
I'm using an ACDelco heated sensor and the body measures 2 3/4" in length.
I want to get the bung installed and then send the headers out to get the inside coated. If I can get the bung location first without installing the header to take measurements and then sending it out, it would save me a lot of down time.
Re: Measurements for Bung on Hooker Headers (1MoorTym)
Hooker 2149's have the 02 bung installed from the factory. They also have provisions for the AIR tubes from the pump. AND, they come coated. You don't have 2151's, do you? I took a stab in the dark, and welded a bung close to where the tubes merge into the collector, pointing up at a slight angle, inwards. I hope it clears, but since you have a heated, 02, you can simply buy reducers with the bung in them. Being heated, distance from the engine isn't critical. Good luck, and...

Yep, but for some reason, I image to be as plug and play as possible, they put it the #7 primary tube. The hooker coating is only on the outside and I want to get them coated on the inside as well.
I have the hooker Y pipe, so I won't be using reducers and may end up with the sensor in there, because as you say, being heated distance is not that critical. Just trying to cover all the options before hand, I don't want to install the bung and find out the sensor doesn't clear something
Re: Measurements for Bung on Hooker Headers (1MoorTym)
I didn't realize those headers were only coated on the outside. I'm guessing the 02 in the #7 tube works out 90% of the time. But it COULD be a problem if something were to go wrong in the #7 cylinder. I haven't installed my headers, yet. They'll go in with the new engine, shortly. A friend and I eye balled his car with headers, and the above location was our best guess. If it doesn't clear something, I do have the bung installed reducers. Like you, I wanted it as close to the engine as possible and sampling at least 4 cylinders. Good luck, and...

What tranny do you have? If it's the 6 speed, move the sensor bung over to the passenger side. Much more room over there. Longer wire will be needed. Mine is clocked at around 9 p.m. position.
