Default Allowable wheel bearing play?

Had the Vette up on jackstands last week. So I checked the wheel bearing play by placing hands @ 12 & 6 and rocking. The Ft. where tite no movment at all. The rear had just the slitest movment maybe .5 mm. The lugs were tite. Is this OK, normal or are they going to blow.
TIA Denver.
BTW I waved @ 3 Vette's (2-c5s 1-c4) this weekend not 1 waved back!!
:seeya damit!! :steering:

My 87 manual states to replace when the movement is more than .005". This is measured with a dial indicator at the edge of the brake rotor. Mine is at .005" but it sure feels like alot, don't like it but I'll see how it progresses during the summer.

I replaced the drivers rear when i had the tranny rebuilt. The rest all have a little bit of play in them but not much just a tiny back and forth. I have absolutely no vibration or alingment issues so i just left it as be. I think a little play in ok. the one i replaced i could move over 1/4 inch !!!!!!!!!!!! When we pulled it out in fell right in half. I plan on checking them 2 times a year from now on. I'm not concerned with the slight play i have in other wheels though although having a convertable i hate to think about what could have happened last summer with the top down taking a on ramp at 80mph!!! Bad news, luckily i didnt have any issues.

Another thing to keep in mind is that when a wheel bearing in the back goes bad, 9 times outta 10 the outter u-joint gets toasted with it.

Scorp is right. I had to do the U-joints on that side too. I'm sure the other side isnt too far behind.

I had, oh, about a good 1/16th of an inch of play on this one.
Passenger side rear

The torx bolts are permanently embedded in the darn spindle. :cry My impact is useless against them, which is why I took it off originally. On to plan B when I think of one.
