Default Pillar Gauge illumination question

I'm looking to put in an autometer gauge on my pillar and I was wondering how everyone else ran the power wires for the lights. I was thinking of just taping off of the bulbs behind the light swith. This would still give the dimmer capability, but I'm not sure if the extra amperage would trip the fuse. Does anybody have any other ideas? Thanks.

Mine are lighted off the dimmable light that shines down from the mirror. They are a very low draw and it works fine.

Where could I get the pillar guages for my Corvette? Also what color faces would look better? White or Black?

That sounds like a great idea, I didn't even think of that, and you've got the wires right there. Thanks.

You can get the pods and gauges from http://www.egauges.com I would assume black would work better, but the shop I bought mine from only had white so I'm stuck until I want to buy a new one.

Hey mn_vette, since you are already in the stages of using Turbos. Will you use a Boost/Vac guage and a Fuel pressure guage? Or just a Boost/Vac guage alone? Is it neccessary to even have the fuel pressure guage?

I'm going to use a boost/vac gauge for now. I could use a fuel press gauge, but using an FMU(until I can afford to upgrade to a standalone) The fuel pressure changes so much that I wouldn't be able to calculate what it should be, and if I see it drop....then its already too late, the engine alread went :U Besides I'm still planning on using my nitrous setup to help the turbo spool and that takes up the port for the fuel press gauge and I don't really want to tap the fuel rail for another one. Oh and notice I'm only using the nitrous to spool the turbo....once the turbo is creating boost the fmu will increase the fuel pressure and this would cause the nitrous/fuel mixture to become extremely rich, negating the effect of the nitrous. This is all theoretical of course, I had a module blow out on me so I am waiting for parts to fix it, I still haven't gotten the car out on the road with the current setup. I'm hoping by next weekend I'll have everything good to go.

 Nitrous can be used to spool up Turbos? They release in that much pressure to actually help spool it faster? What does this mean, you could get high end boost at low rpms? Also why not have one jet spool up the turbos and maybe another jet after they have spooled to go into the airstream for an extra 100hp? What kind of Turbos are you using right now? T3/T4?

BTW I guess I'll just use a one guage pod, I got want to look like a ricer that have way too many guages that dont mean anything like 2 different rpm guages and 3 different speedos

Ok, nitrous goes in as a liquid and comes out as a gas. Basic FIZIX says that this WILL increase the exhaust flow. It won't increase it as much because of the density of oxygen in the N2O, but it will increase. Not to mention the extra power that you will get from the nitrous on the launch. I'm currently running a 60-1 HIFI with a T4 .84 trubine housing. But I'm only running it off one bank of exhaust which will cause spooling problems for now until I get the other side done which won't come until after I rebuild the engine. The problem with shooting nitrous while under boost is the fact that the fuel pressure isn't the same using an FMU. Once you reach a constant boost you could do this if you have the right jettings for it. If you've got a standalone I believe the fuel pressure is constant(I could be wrong) and it would be just fine.

For the tranny I'm planning on doing a bulletproof rebuild, as for anything else in the drive train, probably a Dana44. The suspension will eventually get some koni adjustables or something comperable. With the single turbo alone it won't spool up until I shift into second so it'll be slow off the line, but after that it should get around 4-500 crank I'm hoping. But you never know until you try it. Especially with a wacked setup like I'm trying to run.

Well at least someone on the forum grew some ***** and did it. Unlike most of the people including me sometimes just talk and don do anything. But I hope to change that in about 5-6 weeks from now. :D
