Wow, thats scary! Why would it be the sensor though? That just monitors wheel rotation right? I thought ABS was an all on or all off thing until Active Handling showed up in the C5s. Perhaps the solenoid in the ABS unit required to pulse that brake line is no good?
Scorp508, I was quickly thinking that if the sensor was sending a faulty signal, (not sure how it defaults right now..but would guess it should fail safe so the wheel turns) that the ABS could be keeping it applied all the time to slow it down. that is what I was asking as I said how is it locking up..while driving or on jack stands etc. more info is needed . till later
Hello Everyone
Any idea what could be causing my right front wheel to lock-up?
All the other wheels ABS is working.
Thx
Hank
The way I test my '92 ABS system is with my Vetronix Tech-1A scan-tool and the chassis cartridge -- this is the same tool that the GM dealers have.
After jacking the entire vehicle up, with all four wheels in the air, I can command the ABS "active" on each wheel. When the ABS is active on the wheel, you should able to turn the wheel by hand even though someone has the brake pedal firmly planted with the engine running. In addition, the Tech-1A can access the trouble-codes and check many other ABS functions.
