OK, went to take a spin in the '93 with the weather being so nice out. The car has been sitting up a lot over the last 2 months and has only been driven a hand full of times over that period.
The problem is that the transmission did not want to shift. I had to get it up to 3000+ rpm to get it to shift into the next gear and it would shift hard.
Fluid is good color, has no bad odors, and it at the proper level. Car is 100% stock.
TIA.
What kind of problems could cause this?
My plan right now is to pull the pan, change the filter and fluid and possibly pull the valve body and check for debris. While I am in there I thought about putting a B&M shift kit in it since they are only about $35.
Does anyone have any bad experiences with the shift kits? Does it shift hard enough where my wife will complain about it?
Any other suggestions on repair? The tranny was rebuilt by the dealer about 40K miles ago.
I would definitely pull the filter and valve body as you're planning on doing (just to make sure nothing is being plugged). I'm sure you know this, but check the check-***** while you're in there. As far as shift kits go, I've heard that if you want to do the job right, install a TransGo shift kit. Mine is sitting in the basement waiting for the install.
After all the help you've given me on this forum, I hope that this helps you. :)
Thanks cprgmr, I will look into the Transgo.
Frank, been working in Chicagoland since November, and I am having trouble getting my car running right with only getting to spend about 3 hours every other weekend on it. Unfortunately, it looks liks I will miss the CI for the second time in a row. Next year I will dfinately make it though. Gotta get my Corvette Event fixes and see my buddies from the Forum at least every couple of years. :D
The Trans-Go Performance Shift kit along with the Trans-Go accumulation kit (Trans-Go Junior) will give nice part throttle shifts along with firm WOT shifts. If you have any questions about this, let me know?
