opti spark problems
I answered your other post, and I thought I'd give you what I did and what I'd do again. I too, have a 92 Lt-1. I read allot about the problems of the Opt-spark distributor. I have the time, so I started taking the front of myengine apart to have a "look see" inside my opti-spark. What I found horrified me! It was wet, rusty and dirty inside the distributor! It was waiting for good ole Murphy's Law to strike leaving my strand at the worst possible time. Hereis what I did: Bought a new complete opti-spark for a 92 (Now I know I should have bought a 95-96 cap to put on the 92 distributor base. Why? It has the vent attachment on the cap. Or youcan do what I did and have http://www.corvetteclinicinc.com vent your 92 opti-spark. Either way, vent it so clean air will keep it cleaner. While you are in there replace your coolant pump and spark plug wires, because they're easy to do at that time. Make sure you have a service manual if you are doing yourself. Lots of help right here.

I believe the cap and rotor are only sold as a "kit". Since you have to take the cap off to replace it, you may as well undo two more bolts and replace the rotor.
Not to be rude, but are you sure you want to tackle this yourself?! Pretty big job to tackle when your post implies you don't understand the basics of the system. Just don't want to see an inexperienced person mess up their ride.
