This forum is great!!! I have learned much on how to keep my 89 L98 in top condition.
I have a strange brake problem though. Today I went all out. Relpaced rotors, new Hawk pads, flushed the system and replaced old fluid with ATE Blue. Everything went well.
Installed a DRM brake spring in the M/C and followed instructions to the letter. After vac. bleeding the entire system, I got in and started the car. When I pressed on the brakes the pedal went all the way to the floor. I looked at the M/C I and could see fluid squirting out of the top of the M/C brake warning switch!!! I removed the one wire connector from the top of the switch got back in and pressed on the pedal again. Two streams of fluid shot out of the switch through the top of the connector pins??? After removing the switch and pulling the spring from its housing, I could see light through the tips of the connector pins.
The question I have is: Is this switch normally under pressure? There is only a nippled seat, plastic seal and spring to this switch. Is something missing???
I have ordered a new switch from Eckler's and I am hopeing this will fix my problem. Not even the big time Chev dealer's in the area have this part. Car is down for a $10.95 switch!!!!!!
Yes I removed the switch as per instructions.
Does any one have a picture of the proportioning valve. When I removed it I may have installed the front o-ring and metal ring incorrectly.
The switch is under pressure when one half (front or rear) of the MC has no pressure. This switch then lights a trouble light on the dash telling you that one half of your braking system isn't working. Two rebuilt MC put on my 87 leaked out of this switch (both systems had pressure) and I cured it by installing a new MC from GM.
Fixed the leaking M/C warning light switch. I had the front proportioning valve o-ring on the wrong side of the metal spacer ring. I was expecting a rock hard pedal after getting this fixed and rebleeding the system but there's still a little mush when stepping on the brake. Stops good though. Any ideas???

 and
I have the same problem! There's still a little air in the system somewhere.
I am going to be installing my C5 upgrade over the next week, I'll let you know what I find
