That is a CCM code meaning current........41 is RF valve solonoid malfunction ASSUMING that abs/asr codes from year to year are the same. I'm not sure on that one.....unless it was h41 which is history malfunction or unless his title is double redundant and the an ECM code 41 would be ignition control circuit open/shorted. I added this because he listed code c41 and not code 41. They are two seperate codes for two different systems. I read his title as CCM failure not ECM failure......Just wanted to clarify if it helps solve his problem........ ;)
Have you done any work to the car recently? If so what was it? What terminals on the ALDL did you jumper?.......A-B or A-G. Need more information
Kittmaster,
I used the A-G jumper listed in the service manual and it gives me a C41 & H41 code, no ECM to CCM communication on serial bus. I can't clear the trouble code using the procedure in the manual. I only have the preliminary 'white' manual which doesn't list the probable causes, hoping for some hints. Tried 3 different ECMs, tore the dash out getting to the CCM(don't even try this at home kids!) still no help.
:(
BTW, no ASR on a '90, where did you get the RF reference from?
Service Engine Soon light indicates a ECM error code.
SYS error indicates a CCM error code.
If 1.1 is displayed in the trip monitor and 41 is displayed in the speedometer.
CCM code 41 is a ECM Serial Data (loss of communications).
Short A to G and turn ignition on. Press Trip Reset button until 4.0 displays in the Trip Monitor area of the Cluster. Note Speedometer Does it display err?
If it doesn't the problem was intermittent and no longer exists.
If this is a ECM error, 4.1 will display in the Trip Computer and 41 will appear in the speedometer.
Code 41 is a Cylinder Select Error which is a faulty/improperly seated
or incorrect MEM-Cal.
The MEM -Cal is located under the small access cover of the ECM.
If you replace a ECM you need to remove it from the old ECM and install it in the new ECM. If this doesn't cure the problem, the MEM-Cal could be bad or the ECM could be bad.
