Default Bilstein Installation Question

Has anyone installed Bilstein Z51 shocks on a 96 or so Corvette. And, if you have, did you torque the tower nut to 15 lb ft as the instructions say? And, if you did, did the rubber bushing flatten like a pancake? No one seems to know how tight to make it, not even Bilstein tech support. Anyone have a clue? Thanks. - C.

you should tighten until there's a certain amount of squish, or roundness, to the bushings. roughly, tighten them until the part that bulges the very most is only as large in diameter as the metal bushing caps/retainers.

:iagree: That's the general rule for installing any shock, including Bilstein's.

Front or rear? Not clear which bushing you're referring to...

Per GM specs, front LCA to shock mounting nuts are 19 lb-ft. Rear lower shock nut is 61 lb-ft.
