Please help ASAP dash problem

Hi- My dash is horribly dim. BEfore it went totally dim, it was dimming over the tach. This happneded about 3 weeks ago. Unfortuantely I just rebuilt the engine, so i will be wanting to monitor the stats when the new engine drops in tomorrow. Any ideas of what I should start with first as far as the cluster? I dont want the engine sitting in there unablt for me to start cuz i cant read the stats. thanks guys and gals.. Its a 88 by the wqay

It sounds like it's just the dash illum. bulbs. You have to pull the cluster to change them from the back.

Do you know how many there are? What size bulbs they are?

There's 4 bulbs...don't remember the size, but you can get them at any Autozone...they're nothing special or wierd.
