Default Headlight help

I put in the high intensity blue lights and upgraded fog lights about a year ago. Since then I have been burning up the wires that go to the socket on the headlights. I've replaced teh sockets about 3 times. Here's my new problem: On low beam, when my fog lights are off everything works fine. When the fog lights are on the fog lights are really dim and the pass. side headlight dims. If I shut off my headlights the fog lights go back to normal.
With high beams the fog lights stay off (as their supposed to) and I have had no problems untill last night. I was driving with my high beams on and they started to flicker on and off. Not high to low but high to off! This happened about 3 times before I just kept my low beams on and went home. Any advice?

make sure that the current draw of the new bulbs are not excessive, I have heard of wire melt due to increased current draw for those "xenon" bulbs. This is because in a true H.I.D. system there are ballasts and ignitors to fire up the arc afterwhich the systems uses very little power. That is the advantage of the XENARC system sold by sylvania. Those bulbs that claim to have a similar light output achieve this by going from say 38 watts to 60 watts. Your factory wiring is rated to handle the O.E.M. bulb's wattage with a small degree of tolerance. :seeya

What about the fog lights? They seem to be connected to this somehow?

Check your grounds. I've been running APC Xenon Plasma bulbs for what has to be close to 2 years now and never had an issue with melted wires.

I replaced the wire harnesses and put in my old headlights and still have the problem. So I know its not the harnesses or the lights themselves. Where are the grounds? Does it sound like a short?
Also I noticed that when I turn the fog light switch on the high beam indicator comes on, the fogs are dim, and the lights dim. With high beams the fogs are off of course and everything is fine EXCEPT the other night they would go from high to off. F'n lights :cuss

Tim,

Check and see how you fog lights are grounded. I have read a few posts here where the fog light are grounded through the filament of the high beam headlights. From the post I read, although they related to 50 watt fog lamps, the ground location had to be changed.

They are grounded to the high beams. When the lights are closed and the fogs are on, the headlights are dimly lit. But I have had the brighter fog bulbs for about a year and this is the first time it's been doing this.
