Default 94 engine rebuild - header question

I am rebuilding my 94 motor and am debating putting headers on while the engine is out. I have a stock exhaust manifold/exhaust up to the cats. From the cats back I have a power effects system. How much fabrication is required to install these headers? Basically what is going to be involved in the installation? I assume that all the stock parts are going to have to go and I am going to have to pick up some sort of after market cats. Also, how difficult is this to install outside the car, then drop the motor in? I figure others have done this before, so any suggestions would be helpful...

What kind of headers are you putting on, the stock or an aftermarket? If aftermarket, long tube or shorties? :chevy

Sorry, that info was in my original post, but I went back and edited it and must have deleted it. Duh, not enough coffee I guess.

I am looking at Hooker HOK 2061-1 long tube headers....

The Hooker 2061-1 headers are ceramic coated "shorties", and they are a direct bolt-up. No exhaust modifications are needed to install these headers.

Apparently coffee alone is not enough, I need a total brain transplant. I have been looking at headers for like 3 weeks now and got my part and types confused.

But, that's good new that they are simply bolt ons. That being said, what are the real (as in real life) benefits of long tube versus "shorty"?

The shorties won't do anything for you but look a little better. You really need long tubes.

It would appear by your sig that's what you have :)

Any suggestions regarding make/model/installation?
