Use search in the left margin & look for weatherstrip. There is a post by no-radio that answers your question. :steering:

I just replaced mine after it got painted with GM original. It has a upside down "U" groove that has some gunk in it, i guess to keep it stuck in place, its quite sticky. All I did was center it and started with the corners cause you have to press it in firmly in two directions to make sure its down in there good. The corners also help to locate it properly. I used a rubber hammer to gently tap on the top edge to make sure it was fully seated into that U groove. Then evenly work it down on each side. It went down easy, looks great and I have to really press down to get the hatch to latch. Make sure you use some of that grease to keep it protected.

I replaced mine last summer. Almost all posts here indicated NO glue. Use the white guey stuff (silicone grease) that is there already left over from the original weatherstripping. No glue since the w-stripping needs to expand/contract with the temp changes
