Just installed muff elims and last night I couldn't resist manual shifting through the twisties on my way home since I have a nice set of twisties on my daily drive I am wondering if manual shifting trough the 4 gears but keeping it under the redline will do any damage i also use the B&M shift plus altough i know its not the greatest shift kit but i like the way the car feels with it on and manual shifting love the accelaration, sound, and seems like more control over the car. but will this do any damage to my car if i drive it like that. :grouphug: :seeya :steering:
Re: manual shifting an A4 does it do any damage (Nathan Plemons)
Thanks for the replies. Please explain this full manual valve bady swap. How would that work out. :seeya :steering: Yeah I think I really did want a six speed :yesnod:
Re: manual shifting an A4 does it do any damage (65Z01)
This is getting interesting. Being that the shifter is on the floor i really don't mind doing the shifting. will the manual valve body add any performance or durability I would think it would be good to add a trans go shift kit at the same time or am I going off the deep end? Anyone know an average cost for that type of mod or does anyone have it done? :seeya :steering:
Re: manual shifting an A4 does it do any damage (ZELLSLIFE)
Reading an ad in Summit Racing's catalog it says the TransGo shift kit, P/N TRG-4L60E, for '93-'97 TH-4L60E allows you to hold any gear at any speed with downshift at any RPM; price is $109.99. It does not say anything about a fully manual mode as does the ad for the TH-700R/4 shift kit.
You might check out the TransGo site to see if they have more details.
I don't think this setup would add any life except through quicker shifting. Where it could add to performance is by letting you select the shift points instead of having it done by springs & weights in the governor, albiet perhaps not quite so consistently.
Re: manual shifting an A4 does it do any damage (ZELLSLIFE)
The trans go shift kit is the manual valve body. It's a good kit, and will make the shifts much firmer and happen right when you want them. I would suggest a ratchet shifter if you do this though, to complete the emsemble.
